What are
AquaMats® made of ? AquaMats® are a completely environmentally
friendly solution. The polymers used in AquaMats® are food-grade in
nature. There are no binders or harmful chemicals used in the materials,
so there is nothing to leach into your water.
Do AquaMats®
have to be cleaned ? Ideally, AquaMats® are bio-engineered to be
cleaned, or "grazed", by pond fish like koi and goldfish. However, if desired,
AquaMats® may be hand-cleaned at pond side.
How do AquaMats®
work with bacterial additions ? Fantastic! The engineered surfaces
of AquaMats® are specifically designed to encourage the growth of bacterial
communities. The key to maximizing the effectiveness of any bacterial treatment
is to provide it with just the right type and amount of surface area, like
the kind provided in AquaMats®. In summary, bacteria and AquaMats®
equal a great team.
How many
AquaMats® do I need for my pond ? Figuring out how many AquaMats®
you need is easy. To do it, estimate how many gallons of water are in your
pond (length in ft. x width in ft. x depth in ft. x 7.48 = gallons).
For small
ponds (500 gallons or less), use one Mini AquaMats® for every 50 (fifty)
gallons of pond water. For example, if your pond is 150 gallons, you would
need 3 Mini AquaMats®.
For large
ponds (over 500 gallons), use one Standard AquaMats® for every 1,000
gallons of pond water. For example, if your pond is 3,000 gallons, you
would need 3 Standard AquaMats®.
AquaMats®
may be joined to one another to accommodate any size pond. AquaMats®
are most effective in ponds over 24 inches deep. For ponds less than 500
gallons or less than 24 inches deep, we recommend the use of the smaller
Mini AquaMats®. |
